Bass lessons

The bass guitar is one of the most under-appreciated instruments in a band. It is one of those instruments that isn’t given much of the spotlight, but it helps hold down the fort. It’s really the ‘glue’ that holds it all together. When a band has a really talented bass player, he or she makes the whole band sound better. You can literally feel the music better because of the low-end support it provides. If a band has a lousy bass player, even non-musicians will feel something is off.

As with all of our lessons, we’ll first want to understand your goals and constraints. Where do you want to be with the bass in one, five, ten years from now? How much time each day will you realistically devote to practicing bass? What type of music do you like and what would you like to be able to play? Do you want to join a band?

We want you to be able to play your music. For some that will take weeks, others it will require years. Either way, we want to make sure you have a solid foundation. We emphasize good, safe technique so that you can enjoy playing bass for the rest of your life. Other important aspects of bass that we teach include:

  • Proper fretting of notes
  • Playing with your fingers and a pick
  • Efficient playing
  • Bass runs
  • Role of bass in various band formations
  • Rock, country, folk, blues, jazz, funk, R&B, reggae
  • Slap/Pop technique
  • Chords and two-hand tapping

Without InTune Studios, I don’t know where I would be today with my music. InTune Studios helped me tap into my musical creativity, and that ended up translating to many different instruments. Amazing musician, teacher, and friend.
